Technology Mission Statement
  • The M.S.A.D. #67 Technology Committee developed and adopted a mission and
    vision statement for technology in 2007-08.  That statement includes
    references to curriculum, training and professional development, and other
    services linked to technology and is consistent with the district’s
    overall mission and vision.

    Mission
    The Technology Committee seeks to provide leadership to improve teaching
    and learning by promoting and supporting the effective use of technology
    in M.S.A.D. #67 schools so that all individuals can fulfill their
    potential as lifelong learners and responsible, contributing citizens in
    an ever-changing global society.
    Vision
    In order to fulfill the mission…

STUDENTS will
   · become proficient in the use of technology tools to support lifelong learning and to solve real-life problems;
   · understand the ethical, cultural, and societal issues related to technology; and
   · practice responsible use of technology systems, information, and software.
Parents will
   · use technology to access information from and communicate with the school(s); and
   · encourage their children to become effective users of technology.
THE STAFF will
   · plan, design, and implement safe and effective learning environments and experiences using technology in order to meet the needs of diverse learners and to promote higher-order skills and creativity for all students;
   · identify and locate technology resources and evaluate them for accuracy and suitability before using them for instructional or assessment purposes;
   · locate, operate, and manage technology within the classroom, including assisting students as needed and knowing how to do routine troubleshooting;
   · apply technology to facilitate a variety of effective assessment and evaluation strategies and use data to inform and guide teaching and learning;
   · use technology to enhance their productivity and professional practice and engage in training and professional-development activities as needed; and
   · understand the social, ethical, legal, and human issues surrounding the use of technology in PK-12 schools and model responsible decision-making related to these issues.
THE Technology Committee will
   · promote a shared vision for technology use and widely communicate that vision; develop, implement, and monitor a district technology plan to achieve the vision;
   · maintain awareness of emerging technologies and their potential uses in education;
   · foster and nurture a culture of responsible risk-taking and advocate policies promoting continuous innovation with technology;
   · use current research and data in making decisions about technology availability and use;
   · advocate for policies, programs, and funding opportunities that support implementation of the district technology plan;
   · assess staff knowledge, skills, and performance in using technology and use results to facilitate quality professional development;
   · ensure equity of access to technology resources that enable and empower all learners and educators; and
   · promote and enforce privacy, security, and online safety related to the use of technology.
THE ADMINISTRATION will
   · ensure that curricular design, instructional strategies, and learning environments integrate appropriate technologies to maximize teaching and learning;
   · provide for and ensure that faculty and staff take advantage of quality training and professional-development opportunities for improved teaching and learning with technology;
   · model the routine, intentional, and effective use of technology for a variety of purposes, including using technology to collect and analyze data, interpret results, and communicate findings to improve instructional practice and student learning;
   · create and participate in learning communities that stimulate, nurture, and support staff and self in using technology for improved productivity;
   · implement and use integrated technology-based management and operations systems;
   · allocate financial and human resources to ensure complete and sustained  implementation of the technology plan;
   · understand the social, legal, and ethical issues related to technology and model responsible decision-making related to these issues;
   · ensure equity of access to technology resources that enable and empower all learners and educators;
   · promote and enforce privacy, security, and online safety related to the use of technology; and
   · promote and enforce environmentally safe and healthy practices in the use of technology.
THE SCHOOL BOARD will
   · provide adequate staffing and other resources to support technology
     infrastructure and integration across the district.
