COVID-19 Update 3-13-2020 3:30 p.m.

March 13, 2020 - 3:30 PM

Dear Staff, Parents, and Community Members:

R.S.U. No. 67 continues to adjust our response as new guidance becomes available regarding the COVID-19 Disease.  Today, the Maine Principals’ Association Interscholastic Management Committee postponed the start of the 2020 Spring sports pre-season practice schedule until after April 27, 2020.  This includes all tryouts, practices, and games.

In order to provide consistency in our response, R.S.U. No. 67 is cancelling all after school activities including Adult Education classes until after April 27, 2020.  Students needing information regarding the HiSET exam should call Mattanawcook Academy at 794-6712.  Our schools will not hold assemblies and our students will not attend field trips until after that date.  Staff attendance at workshops has been cancelled as well.  At this time, we will not being approving facility use for outside groups.  We will continue to monitor the situation and make appropriate adjustments as necessary.

A district-wide response to continue education for all students is being developed in the event our schools are closed for an extended period of time.  Today our teachers spent the early release time to prepare lessons.  Our district-wide response will include a plan to provide nutritious meals for students at remote feeding sites.

We are asking that all students and staff who have underlying medical conditions to follow the advice of their physicians.  Students and staff who are sick should stay home.  Please be sure to contact the school regarding the reasons for the absence.

I know this is a difficult and trying time for the entire community.  I am fully dedicated to take proactive steps to ensure that our schools continue to be safe and healthy environments for all students and staff.

Sincerely,

Jean M, Skorapa, Superintendent
