Important Update 3/20/2020 10:00 am

March 20, 2020

Dear Staff, Parents, and Community Members:

I am writing to update you on R.S.U. 67’s response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) that is gripping our state, the nation, and the world.  I am extending the closure of all schools in R.S.U. 67 through April 27, 2020.  We will continue to follow the school calendar and will provide remote learning experiences for students through April 17, 2020 which will be followed by the April break.

Your child received learning materials for approximately two weeks, based on the initial dates of the closure.  I will keep you informed regarding the plan for our child to receive additional materials to be used through the new closure date.  Our goal is to keep all our students involved in learning, not to cause additional stress to families.  We encourage families to take regular breaks and get outside.

In addition, we are developing a plan for meal delivery which we hope to begin next week.  Additional information will be provided in the near future.

As of noon yesterday, 42 Mainers tested positive of COVID-19 and 10 more were presumptive positive.  Although I am unaware of a positive test in our community at this time, we all must continue to do our part to mitigate the spread of the virus.  As we continue to practice social distancing, access to buildings in R.S.U. 67 will continue to be closed to the public.  The district office is receiving phone calls at 794-6500.  Please leave a message and we will direct your call to the appropriate person.

I continue to be humbled by the outpouring of community support during this time of great uncertainty.  Please accept my heartfelt thanks.  Take care of yourselves, your neighbor, and those you love.

Please visit our website frequently for updates.  Thank you for your understanding and support in this time of tremendous uncertainty.

Sincerely,

Jean Skorapa, Superintendent of Schools
