Communication from the Superintendent 7-9-2020

July 9, 2020

Dear Staff, Parents, and Community Members:

I hope you continue to be healthy and are enjoying some rest and relaxation.  Maine summers are short, so be sure to spend time outside and enjoy this beautiful weather.

R.S.U. No. 67’s District Planning Team is working diligently to prepare for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year.  We intend to bring students back in the fall for in-person instruction, if possible.  We will develop additional protocols to promote the wellness and safety of our students.  This includes establishing social distancing guidelines, purchasing necessary safety supplies and equipment, and reviewing and developing transportation guidelines.

However, we are cognizant that local health conditions may prevent us from bringing all students back for in-person instruction.  As a result, we are also preparing for some distance learning scenarios.

At this point, it is too early to tell for certain which scenario we will face in August.  The Department of Education will provide our district with advisory guidance for reopening as the summer progresses.  Please visit the district website frequently for updated information.

On behalf of the entire staff of R.S.U. No. 67, thank you for entrusting your child’s education to us.  2019-2020 was a very challenging year.  Together, we will weather this storm and come out even stronger.

Sincerely,

Jean Skorapa, Superintendent of Schools
