COVID-19 Update 3-14-2020

March 14, 2020

Dear Staff, Parents, and Community Members:

I am writing to inform you that all schools in R.S.U. No. 67 will be closed Monday, March 16- Friday, March 27, 2020.  Our teachers will have a workshop day on Monday to complete their planning for remote learning for all students during the closure.  Additional information regarding how to access learning materials and meals for your child(ren) will be forthcoming.

Although I firmly believe this was the right decision at this time, please understand it was not an easy one.  Our schools provide an array of academic, health, social, and nutritional services for our students.  They are the hub of our community where groups gather and a variety of activities take place.  In addition, I am aware of the difficulty that school closure causes families as they balance child care with job and personal responsibilities.   In short, I fully understand that closing schools is a disruption to our families and community and this decision was made only after careful consideration.

I would like to thank our families and students in advance for your support and continued engagement in learning during this time.  I will continue to update you as new information becomes available.

This quote says it best, "It will be impossible to know if we overreacted or did too much, but it will be QUITE apparent if we under reacted or did too little."

Sincerely,

Jean Skorapa, Superintendent of Schools
