SCHOOL CANCELLATION POLICY

R.S.U. No. 67 conducts school on each of the days that school is scheduled, if at all possible. However, there are times when the weather conditions cause a cancellation. The School Committee authorizes the Superintendent to determine when a school day is to have a delayed start or be canceled. It is also possible for after-school activities to be canceled should inclement weather worsen during the school day. Families, if they elect, may be notified by a phone call, text messages and email. Additionally, an announcement will be listed on the district website home page. Information will also be posted on the television channels WLBZ (Channel 2) and WABI (Channel 5). Several of the news outlets offer a text message service so announcements can be sent to your cell phone.

Parents are expected to use their own discretion about keeping their child(ren) at home if they believe conditions warrant. Please note that normally we make the decision to close of delay the opening of school quite early in the morning because some of our staff members live upwards of 45 minutes from school. Additionally, we need to get our school buses out on the road shortly after 6 am. Conditions and forecasts sometimes change after the decisions are made.

If school is canceled, there will be no after school activities to include meetings, club meetings athletic practices and games.

Unless there are extremely unusual circumstances, once school is in session there will be no early dismissal.

Should school be canceled or after-school activities be canceled during the day, all district meetings scheduled for that afternoon or evening will automatically be canceled.
