Dear families and members of the RSU 67 School Community,

Many of you are waking up this morning and just hearing about the horrific mass shooting that occurred in Lewiston last night.  Although we are a large state geographically, we are small in numbers and this tragedy will likely impact many of us in one way or another.   Today, my thoughts are with the innocent victims and all those impacted by this horrific shooting.

While we are a long way from Lewiston and there is no suspected risk to our school community, I have requested that the Lincoln Police Department be present at all our schools as staff and students arrive today.  I have also engaged the district's crisis team, and counselors will be available for anyone who needs support in processing this terrible event.

As Mainers, we are strong, we are resilient, and we will persevere.  If you have any questions about supporting your child through this difficult event, please contact your school counselor or school administrator for assistance.

Warmly,

Dr. Austin

Superintendent of Schools
