Continuity of Education Plan

For Student Engagement During Extended School Closure

Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

R.S.U. 67 remains committed to supporting students and families to navigate this challenging time.  The district’s first priority remains the health, safety, and well-being of our students, staff, families, and community.  We have aligned our plan for continuity of education with the following guiding principles:

  1. Health: Focus on the physical health, safety, nutrition, social-emotional and mental health needs of our students, families, and staff.

  2. Community: Enhance connections between students, schools, and families.

  3. Equity: Ensure equity for all students.

  4. Learning: Provide meaningful work that remediates and reviews content, allows a deeper understanding of previously taught content, and provides exposure to content.

Health:

  • Provide meals for children ages 18 and under in accordance with guidelines from the Federal School Nutrition Program.

  • Establish protocols to ensure safety for employees and the community in alignment with CDC regulations and guidance from the Maine Department of Education.

  • Be cognizant of and responsive to the social-emotional and mental health needs of our students, families, and staff.

Community:

  • Address questions and concerns expressed to administrators by students, families, staff, and the community in a timely manner.

Equity:

Learning:

  • Maintain and deepen mastery of previously taught standards being cognizant of the variability of the remote learning circumstances of individual students.

  • Provide instruction to ensure access for all students.

  • Differentiate learning materials based on the needs of the students (i.e. access to the internet, individualized plans, etc.).

  • Establish a system for providing feedback to students.
