Message from the Superintendent

March 17, 2021

Dear Parents, Staff, and Community Members,

Today at approximately 12:00 noon, administrators at Mattanawcook Jr. High School were alerted of a bomb threat made against the school.  The Lincoln Police Department was contacted immediately and students and staff were safely relocated to Mattanawcook Academy.  Students and staff remained at Mattanawcook Academy until dismissal.

All threats to our school or students are taken very seriously and investigated thoroughly.  This incident caused considerable disruption to students, staff, and families.  We recommend that families talk about the incident and emphasize the seriousness of this matter.

In an event such as this, the safety of our students and staff must be our first priority.  Brief communication regarding the relocation of our students was shared with parents as soon as feasible.  Specific details about the situation were not shared until now as this was an active investigation.

Mattanawcook Jr. High School has been carefully checked and cleared by law enforcement.  We will return to school for in-person instruction tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Jean Skorapa, Superintendent
