legobots

Saturday, May 17th, was an exciting day for the MJHS LEGO Bots at the LEGO Robotics Track Meet in Brewer! Our team has so much to be proud of after weeks of hard work, creativity, and teamwork.

Here’s how we did:

In the fastest robot competition, Jacob Rideout and Dylan Hanscom raced to a strong 7th-place finish! Gus Mueller and Nate Jipson put in a tremendous effort building a speedy bot. Although they ran into some difficulties keeping it straight on the course, their persistence and problem-solving were commendable!

In the slope climber competition, Calob Raymond powered his robot to 2nd place. Reid Kosobud and Steven Burns followed close behind with 3rd place!

Ryder Gray & Briar Capps-Martinez tackled the steeplechase course and earned a well-deserved 2nd place!

The final competition of the day was the bridge made of LEGOs. Camden Chambers and  Linus Mueller took 1st place with the lightest bridge able to hold 80 pounds. Their bridge weighed 2,004 grams (about 4.4 pounds). Spencer Millett secured 3rd place with a bridge that was 4,022 grams (about 8.9 pounds)! Spencer's bridge was able to hold up to 205 pounds.

Together, we finished 3rd overall as a team, scoring 38 points, a fantastic result reflecting each student’s dedication and teamwork!

Mrs. Burns is incredibly proud of all the students. Over the past two and a half months, they’ve built, tested, adjusted, and improved their robots with focus and determination. More importantly, they supported each other every step of the way by sharing parts, offering advice, and lending a helping hand.
