April 12, 2023

Dear Parents:

This letter is to keep you informed about the dates and times of the special events surrounding your senior.

Prom: This year’s prom is scheduled for Saturday, May 13, 2022.  Prom will be open to all MA students, and dates from other school districts are welcome to attend. All outside dates must be pre-registered in the main office. The doors will open at 6:45, and the prom will formally begin at 7:00. The cost of tickets is $20 for a single ticket, or $35 for a couples ticket.

Attention to Parents/Guardians and other Friends & Family: Admission into the building during prom will be restricted to ticket holders only. We will not be allowing non-ticket holders into the building. Please plan all your picture taking needs accordingly (outside of the building or at a different location of your choosing prior to the prom).

Senior Trip: The senior trip is still being finalized. Announcements will be made soon.

Commencement Activities: Class Night is scheduled on Friday, June 9, at 7:00 pm. Baccalaureate is organized by the local clergy and scheduled on Saturday, June 10, at 10 am, and Graduation is scheduled on Saturday, June 10, at 4:00 pm.  All commencement activities will be held in the Mattanawcook Academy Gymnasium.

Please consider the following: .

  1. IF ACCOMMODATIONS ARE NEEDED FOR SEATING, please contact the school at (207) 794-6711 and ask to speak to our Senior Advisors.
  2. We invite family and friends to take pictures after the event with their graduating seniors; however, a photographer will also be available for those who wish to purchase photographs.
  3. Every senior is invited to stay for a project graduation following the commencement activities. Seniors who wish to stay for project graduation cannot leave the premises. Any senior who wishes to participate in project graduation must sign up prior to the event.

Mattanawcook Academy sponsors all commencement activities.  The activities are all voluntary.  If your senior does not wish to participate in any or all of the activities, we ask that they let us know as soon as possible.

Mattanawcook Academy’s commencement is a semi-formal event.  Because it is a semi-formal event, all seniors must adhere to the dress requirements listed below.  Any senior who has chosen to attend commencement activities and does not adhere to the semi-formal attire requirements will put themselves in jeopardy of not participating in the commencement activities.

COMMENCEMENT DRESS REQUIREMENTS:

BOYS – collared shirt, slacks, dark socks and shoes - NO SNEAKERS, NO SHORTS,

NO JEANS, NO WORK BOOTS, NO SANDALS

GIRLS - lightweight dress, blouse and skirt, split skirts (or dress pants), dress shoes, dress sandals (or dress flip flops) – NO SNEAKERS, NO JEANS, NO SHORTS, NO T-SHIRTS

PLEASE NOTE:  IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE APPROPRIATE ATTIRE, PLEASE LET US KNOW; WE HAVE THE MEANS TO ACCOMMODATE YOUR NEEDS.

CAPS & GOWNS:  Payment for caps and gowns will be taken any time in the Main Office. The payment is $27, and payments must be made by Friday, June 9.  All library books must be returned, and all outstanding bills must be paid in full before seniors will receive their Cap and Gown.  Caps and gowns are worn at Baccalaureate, Class Night, and Graduation.

All Seniors are invited to Project Graduation, provided they have signed up ahead of time with Mr. Tilton or Mrs. Krause. This is so we may have an accurate count for the dinner and activities.  Also, we would appreciate parent volunteers.  Please consider joining us as a chaperon.  If you would like to do this, please call the office at 794-6711 as soon as possible.

SLIDE SHOW: If you have any pictures you would like to share of your senior (baby photo, etc.) or their classmates, please email digital copies to rayt@rsu67.org or drop physical copies off in the office.

Please contact the school office if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Matthew Arsenault
