Wednesday, 2/12/25, is winter fest and we would appreciate your help making sure your student(s) comes to school with the appropriate attire for their activity, which may be outside for up to 1.5 hours depending on what they chose. CONGRATULATIONS to the MJHS cheering squad for becoming Penquis League Championships at the competition held at Ridge View yesterday. In the face of adversity, battling last minute illnesses and injuries, the team delivered a near-flawless performance to capture the championship. GO BOBCATS!

REMINDER-School athletic practices are NOT spectator events. Please wait for your child in your vehicle until the scheduled end of their practice time. The lobby is small, our student athletes need their full attention on their coaches, and the custodians are trying to get started on cleaning the lobby and lobby bathrooms. Thank you for your support and cooperation!

Good luck to the MJHS Cheerleaders today at the Penquis League Cheering Championship today at RidgeView. The team has worked hard all season long, and their perfomances have been stellar! Competition starts at 5:25, doors open to the public at 4:00. Admission is $4 adults, $2 students, $10 family, and senior citizens free. GO BOBCATS!

The Bobcats A basketball teams will take on Sedomocha tomorrow for the Penquis League Championship at Mattanawcook Academy. The girls will play at 10, followed by the boys at 12. Following the game the players, cheerleaders, managers and coaches are invited to pizza party in the cafeteria, sponsored by Alpha Construction. GO BOBCATS!

Good luck to the MJHS girl's and boy's basketball teams in their semi-final matchups with Central. Both games are at Mattanawcook Junior High. The girls play at 3:30pm followed by the boys at 4:45pm. GO BOBCATS!

Ski Club equipment will be issued on the following dates after school to students who are signed up on FamilyID. There is no late bus, and depending on the number of students, this could take several hours. We encourage you to make a plan for your student to call you for a ride. Siblings whose grades are on different dates should talk to Mrs. Burns, the head ski coach, about which date to attend together. There are now "A" team home basketball games on Monday, 1/6, and the winter concert date for 6th-8th grade band and chorus students is Thursday, January 16th, at 6pm with a snow date of Tuesday, January 21st.

MJHS Ski Club sign-ups will begin on Monday, January 6th, when we return to school. Students will sign-up on clipboards in the cafeteria during their lunches. Parents and guardians need to complete FamilyID registration before students will be eligible for ski club. Students whose registrations have been completed will receive a letter with information about scheduled equipment pickup dates, planned trips, costs, etc. While equipment use is free, families are responsible for returning equipment in good condition and paying for the $25 lift ticket as well as making sure their student is registered on FamilyID, has proper clothing for the weather conditions, is willing to wear a helmet, and has water and food for the trip.

12/26/24: MJHS is currently looking for an assistant ski club coach for the upcoming winter season. (The season is weather dependent, but typically from sometime in January through March.) This is a stipend position per the teacher collective bargaining agreement and includes a commitment to attend ski equipment distribution and collection after school dates as well as supervising and teaching our student skiers on Saturdays and some weekdays during February vacation at ski mountains likely to include Mt. Jefferson, Big Rock, and Big Moose. Applicants do not need to be expert skiers, but should have a familiarity with the basics, be willing to spend most of the day outside, and have enthusiasm to work with students in grades 4-8. PICTURE RETAKE DAY is tomorrow, Thursday, December 12th. If your student was absent on the original picture day, we will be taking their photo. If you want their package redone, please be sure to return the original portraits to be sent back to Lifetouch. This will be done first thing in the morning!
