11/1/24: MJHS will be hosting conferences for parents and guardians on Thursday, November 21st and Monday, November 25th from 3:00-6:30pm. Families will receive sign up information from homeroom teachers at least a week before these dates. Parents and guardians will have the opportunity to discuss their student's academic, social, and behavioral progress with the teacher. Mrs. Berry, Mr. McCarthy, and Mrs. Hainer will also be available in the library for questions about the school and resources for students. We encourage you to attend, and to continue communicating with your student's teachers throughout their career at MJHS. Teachers can be reached by email or Class Dojo and will be provided with a message if you call the school to speak with them while they're teaching. If you have an emergent need, the best choice is to call the school at 794-8935 since teachers are not able to read emails or Dojo messages while they're engaging with students. Parent/Guardian login access to PowerSchool is available if you have not already done that. This access allows you to see grades for each class as well as assignments and attendance.

It was brought to my attention that the link for MJHS sports on the school website is wrong. Please follow this link to register your student for sports. This link is good for all sports through the end of the school year. So sorry for the confusion. https://students.arbitersports.com/mattanawcook-rsu-no-67/24-25-mjhs-sports

At Barnes Brook, the MJHS golf team was fantastic in the Penquis League Championship taking first place with a score of 207! Skylar Bard took home some individual hardware by winning the girl's individual championship with score of 48. Participating for the Bobcats were Jacoby Crosby (45, 2nd overall), Bard (48, 3rd overall), Emily Oldenburgh (57, 2nd individual girl's), Dexter Smith (57, 7th overall) and Colby Gulesian (62, 13th overall). It was an impressive showing for the Cats on their home course. GO BOBCATS!

Yesterday in thegirl's soccer semi-final game, the Bobcats defeated Central by a score of 3-1. In the highly competitive and well-played game, the score was tied at 1-1. Izzy Morin was dominant in goal, and the offense was led by Emily Oldenburgh (goal), Rylee Cry (2 goals), Ava Gardener (assist), and Hope Gray (assist). Arianna Michaels controlled the middle of the field throughout the game, and the defense was anchored by strong play from Leah Stevens and Rylee Springer. The Bobcats will host Sedomocha in the Championship game on Monday, 10/21 at 3pm. GO BOBCATS!

Our phone system line access at MJHS is being updated on Friday, October 4th, 2024. In order to make this happen, our IT department is working with two outside providers and they will need to take the phone offline for a brief period of time at approximately 1:00pm on Friday. We are asking that families contact the school by phone, 207-794-8935, prior to 1:00pm if possible. If you are unable to reach us after that time, please call the RSU No. 67 district office at 207-794-6500. We apologize for the late notice as this appointment was canceled and then rescheduled by the companies involved.

In Fifth Grade your child has the opportunity to learn how to play a band instrument. This is optional, not mandatory. The instruments we will be learning are flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone and percussion (drums). Students choosing to learn an instrument would have a lesson once a week during their Academic Focus (non instruction) time. Additionally, in December we will meet as a full band on Fridays during Academic Focus (non instruction time). Students will receive a grade for band (class participation-60%, at home practice-10% and concerts-30%). Students are asked to practice at home a minimum of 3 times a week for at least 15 minutes per practice. Setting up a routine of set practice times makes it easier to remember. There are multiple ways to get an instrument.... ~Family or Friends- ask around if any of your family or friends have an instrument hiding in a closet. If you are concerned about it’s playing condition, we can have them looked at by David French Music Company. ~Rent To Own-The David French Music offers a rent to own program. ~Purchase an instrument-(I don’t recommend in case your child changes their mind) ~Borrow one from school-the school has a small amount of instruments they can sign out to families. A flier was sent home from David French Music with information on renting. Instrument rental night will be Thursday, September 26 at 6pm in the gym. If you would like to rent online, please go to davidfrenchmusic.com Students in band will need to purchase a book and possibly reeds or oil for their instruments. If you have questions about the Beginning Band program, please send me a message on Class Dojo or an email to nkinkade@rsu67.org. We are so excited to get our Beginning Band together! Miss Kinkade
