Good afternoon! The MJHS football game against Medomak at 4pm is ON AS SCHEDULED at Mattanawcook Academy. Please have your player back to the junior high for a 2:30pm bus to MA. Girl's soccer practice will be right after school. Boy's soccer practice and cross country practices are cancelled. GO BOBCATS!

7th Grade Families: the information meeting that was cancelled yesterday, Monday, the 23rd, has been rescheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday the 25th, at 6:00pm in the gym.

This message was sent earlier today using the district emergency communication system that we later discovered is not working properly. Please also share it with others who may be impacted. September 23, 2024 Good afternoon, Due to unexpected bus driver shortages, Bus 17 running students to and from Chester and Woodville will not be running until further notice. Bussing will be provided approximately one hour later than regular pick-up and drop-off times for those students who do not have access to other transportation. Sorry for any inconvenience. Please reach out to your child’s school with any questions.

7th Grade Families: The information meeting about the Kieve trip scheduled for Monday, 9/23/24, at 5:30pm has been cancelled, and we will reschedule it as soon as possible.

9/23/24: We have just been made aware of a potential threat at Mattanawcook Junior High School. All students and staff are safe, but per our safety protocols, we are evacuating all students and staff to the Mattanawcook Academy gymnasium. All students will be dismissed at their regular time from Mattanawcook Academy. However, if you would like to pick your child up before the regular dismissal time, there will be staff available at the gym to assist you in dismissing your child(ren). The district takes all threats seriously and we are working with local law enforcement to investigate this threat. At this time, we do not believe that this will impact our day tomorrow. However, all afternoon Mattanawcook Junior High school activities are cancelled today. We will update you should we have any additional information. Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping our students and staff safe.

We have just heard from the transportation department that on Thursday, 9/19/24, bus 18 will not be running in the morning. If students cannot get another ride to school, another bus will start the bus 18 morning route after doing their morning run. This will be about an hour delay from the regular pickup time. There is a possibility that bus 18 will not be running the regular route time in the afternoon on Thursday, 9/19/24, but we do not have official word and will contact families on Thursday once we know. When in doubt, you may reach us at MJHS, 794-8935, between 7:00am and 3:30pm with questions. We are sorry for this inconvenience.

On Tuesday, 9/17/24, bus 17 will not be running in the morning or afternoon. If students cannot get another ride to school, another bus will start the bus 17 morning route after doing their morning run. This will be about an hour delay from the regular pickup time. Bus 17 students who cannot get another ride home on Tuesday, 9/17/24, will need to remain at school for a bus to become available about an hour later than usual. On Tuesday, 9/17/24, Bus 14 will not have a driver in the morning. If students cannot get another ride to school, there will be a van picking up students on Blake Drive and Town Farm Rd. If your student does not have another ride and does not live on Blake Drive or Town Farm Road, please call us ASAP at 794-8935. The bus 14 afternoon run will be as it has been for the last couple of weeks. When in doubt, you may reach us at MJHS, 794-8935, between 7:00am and 3:30pm with questions.

Today, Monday, Sept 16th, we are down bus 14. This affects the North Chester students. If you have a student that rides this bus, it will be running about an hour late. Sorry for the inconvenience.

If you were contacted about bus transportation issues with the bus #18 afternoon trip yesterday (9/11/24), it will be at least one more day before we got back to normal. Please call us at 794-8935 if you can pick up your student or have alternative plans for your student to return home. We will be calling any family we do not hear from today (9/12/24). Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE! The junior high football game is scheduled for Tuesday, 9/10 in Brewer at 5:30pm. The game was originally scheduled for 9/11, but will take place on 9/10.

MJHS Sport registrations are rolling in. In case you haven't yet registered your student for sports, please follow this link: https://students.arbitersports.com/mattanawcook-rsu-no-67/24-25-mjhs-fall-sports. If you have previously registered a student through Family ID, please use the same email. There is a "forgot password" button to help you continue, should you have forgotten your password. If you have not yet supplied a copy of either a sports physical or a well-child-check, you can email them to dphillips@rsu67.org. We have heard that HAN is currently scheduling sport physical appointments. If your child needs one, please feel free to call 794-6700 to make that appointment. Thank you for not waiting until the last minute to get your student registered. This allows me time to make sure everything is in place. The athlete will not be allowed to participate if all the steps are completed before the start of their sport season.

Hello MJHS Families: We are already gearing up for fall sports. Family ID will open on Monday, June 24th for you to register your athlete. The 5 sports offered at MJHS are: Golf for grades 6-8, Girls Soccer grades 6-8, Boys Soccer grades 6-8, Football for grades 7-8. Cross Country is offered to 5th-8th graders. Please note: A sports physical or a well-child-check form must be on file before the student can participate. We are trying to give you plenty of time to get this in place before the school year begins. If you have a returning athlete and aren't sure if their physical is current, you can email me at dphillips@rsu67.org. I will look into it as soon as possible and let you know. If your student has never participated in a sport at MJHS, a physical will be needed. If your child has had a well-child-check within the past 12 months, we are able to accept a copy of that in place of a sports physical. Both are not needed. If you have to make an appointment and can't get one until after the sports season starts, we will need something from the doctor's office stating the date and time of the appointment. An appointment card or a note are both acceptable forms of communications. Please watch for start dates of each sport. Some will begin before the first day of school. We will post on our website and our Facebook page, what those dates are, as soon as they are finalized. Thank you for taking a moment to take care of registering sooner rather than later. This will ensure that everything is in place to start the season smoothly.

8th grade families: Doors open for last assembly at 1:00 and it begins at 1:30 today, Tuesday, June 11th. We ask that 8th graders arrive between 1:00 and 1:15.

8th grade families: Families who requested extra tickets by sending in a note or email prior to June 4th, 2024 will receive up to four extra tickets of those requested. These tickets will be sent home with your 8th grader today. Please call us at 794-8935 before 1:45pm today if you prefer to pick your tickets up instead. For those who requested more than four, we will keep your request on file, and if more tickets become available, we will fulfill as many as we can.

The last day of school for MJHS students is Tuesday, June 11th, and there is an 11:30 dismissal that day. We hope our students and their families enjoy a happy and healthy summer vacation. We would also like to wish our 8th graders the best of success in high school!

Due to impending thunderstorms, MJHS baseball practice, softball practice, and tennis club have been cancelled today, Thursday, May 23rd. All indoor clubs and activities are still running as scheduled.

5th grade families: Unfortunately we have to postpone the concert for tonight, May 22nd, due to pigeons in our gym. Despite our best efforts to safely remove them, we have been unsuccessful. They are a distraction to our 5th grade performers and the gym is now a mess from our attempts to safely remove them. The new 5th grade concert date is Wednesday, June 5th, at 5:30pm. We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to seeing you on June 5th.
