Last night the MJHS Football team played their final game of the season under the lights in front of a great home crowd. 8th graders were honored before the game and once again did a great job leading the team. Their hard work paid off with a 26-6 victory and closed out the season with a 7-1 record. This eighth grade group of 20 which consists of: Maddox Arthers, Eric Ayotte, Ashton Dill, Gabe Fiske, Wyatt Flewelling, Bennett Harper, Levi Hennequin, Cooper Jordan, Wyatt Keegan, Landon Krawietz, Gabe Lazore, Trent Lyons, Koby McCain, Adam Paradis, Ethan Pelkey, Jack Pelkey, Tyler Smith, Ryan Thibodeau, Jimmy Vachon, and Ayden Voisine will be severely missed next year, but we look forward to watching them at the next level as they grow into Lynx Football Players. A big thanks to all of the players for all of their hard work and dedication which contributed to a very successful season. A special thank you to Mrs. Pelkey and the ladies in the cafeteria for washing the water bottles, Mrs. Phillips for announcing the 8th graders and Lyddie Gray, who had an absolutely phenomenal performance singing the National Anthem! Congratulations on a great season Bobcats! GO BOBCATS!

The MJHS girls soccer team won the Penquis League Large School championship last night at Husson University under the lights. The girls were victorious over the undefeated #1 seed Penobscot Christian school by a score of 3 to 0. Our team started off strong when left wing Natalie Cloukey sent a through-ball up to striker Kalista Lazo who beat a defender up the middle and fired one into the net. Mid-fielders Tiawna Rich, Taelyn De La Cruz, Dylanie Landry, Khloe Maris, Phebie Melvin and Eliza Mclellan were spot-on in their hustle, and passing to the forwards; their determination to win 50/50 balls was unmatched. Rylee Cyr and Hope Gray were instrumental in handling the difficult task of marking the opponent’s strong and fast striker. Midway through the second half, Vanessa Morse lofted a corner kick across the goal line which Cloukey got a foot on and sent it up to the left corner of the net. The score was 2 to 0 at the half. In the second half Morse received a pass from Lazo and fired a shot that bounced off the post. Morse got her own rebound and bodied the ball into the net to bring the score to 3 to 0. The defensive line was solid the entire game. Ryleigh Springer, Gwen Melvin, Bree Skidmore, Bella Kronholm and Leah Stevens were a wall against their quick front line. Izzy Morin played an incredible game in goal with 13 saves on 15 shots on goal. Players Miah Clapp, Elsie Fullerton, and Lacie Felix contributed their efforts late in the second half to seal the deal for the Bobcats. This win truly was a team effort. The girls had an incredible season and improved every single game. They represented MJHS with pride and sportsmanship, and came home the champs. Congratulations girls on an awesome season ! GO BOBCAT!

CHAMP
Congratulations to the girls soccer team, who defeated #2 seed Warsaw last night in Pittsfield in hard fought, nail biter of a game. With Warsaw’s strong and quick forwards the girls fell behind 2-0 early in the game. After making some quick defensive adjustments, Natalie Cloukey would sneak one in first just over the goal line past the goalie. Vanessa Morse tied it up shortly after with a deep strike off a beautiful through ball by Kalista Lazo. Score was 2 to 2 at the half. Morse would score again in the second half to give us the lead 3 to 2- after left fullback Bree Skidmore won a 50/50 ball and passed to midfielder Dylanie Landry who gained the assist. Warsaw would answer once again to tie it up 3-3. The defensive line Gwen Melvin, Ryleigh Springer and Skidmore played an impressive game against a very tough offense. Special shout out to Bella Kronholm, Rylee Cyr, Hope Grey and Kalista Lazo for their grit and determination to shut down key players of the opponent. The game went right down to the wire. Morse launched a shot to the far right corner from outside the 18 with 17 seconds left to secure the win. The girls should be so proud as this was a very skilled team. The girls are now headed to the championship game against Penobscot Christian on Saturday. GO BOBCATS!

WIN
The boys soccer team played a hard fought semifinal game last night against #1 seeded Penobscot Christian, but fell short 2-1. The Bobcats played a great game and held on until the very end. Landon Landry played an amazing game in the goal with some impressive and crucial saves, tallying 15 total. Brady Cox and Mariner Fitch propelled our defense with help from Blake Cloukey, Jacob McNeil and Jakobe Hodsdon. Zach Brehaut scored the Bobcats goal in the first half with an impressive shot. Brehaut was accompanied by Max Fitch and Xandir Springer to help lead the Bobcats offense. Dominic Flewelling added in some amazing hustle and hard work along with Phillip Bryant, LIam McLain, and Isaac Priest. Each and every player should be proud of themselves and how hard they have all played this season. With only 1 or 2 subs each game, the Bobcats left it all on the field each and every game. We will have a social - date and time TBD. GO BOBCATS!

The address for tomorrow's football game at Camden is 20 Barnestown Road. The game is tomorrow, October 17, at 4pm. The bus will leave MJHS at 12:45 due to potential 15 minute or more construction delays in Searport and many leaf peepers in the area slowing down traffic throughout the trip. GO BOBCATS!
